JUNTOS 2006 CONCERT PRESS RELEASE
LOS ANGELES, CA - Latin music superstars Marco Antonio Solis and Marc Anthony, with Laura Pausini, will headline this year’s JUNTOS EN CONCIERTO 2006 tour (Together in Concert 2006 tour), it was revealed this morning at a press conference in Los Angeles by Live Nation and ING, a global financial services company and the tour’s presenting sponsor.
Anthony, Solis and Pausini were present to announce that, in addition to the concert tour, ING’s sponsorship will also support the Hispanic Scholarship Fund with a $100,000 donation.
The 20-city JUNTOS EN CONCIERTO 2006 tour kicks off July l4 at the Shoreline Amphitheater in San Jose, and makes its way to the Irvine Amphitheatre, Madison Square Garden, Chicago’s Charter One Pavilion, and more (see below for complete itinerary), for 20 nights of music from three of Latin music’s greatest voices, each representing an important genre within Latin music.
The groundbreaking JUNTOS EN CONCIERTO was launched by Live Nation last year, and its offering of three artists of such magnitude during one show was unprecedented in the Latin touring business. JUNTOS EN CONCIERTO became the summer’s hottest tour, garnering critical acclaim and sold out audiences in every market and earning the title of Hottest Tour of the Year by People en español. The Los Angeles Times wrote, “It was amazing how easily the crowd shifted from revved-up salsa to traditional rancheras and contemporary pop, mouthing lyrics in every genre.”
THE ARTISTS - Each of the artists on JUNTOS EN CONCIERTO 2006 has a stellar recording and touring career of their own, so the tour is more than a concert, it’s an event. Every show is an opportunity for fans to see full sets by three of their favorite artists, each from a different branch of Latin music, pop, Mexican regional and salsa, all on the same night.
MARCO ANTONIO SOLIS - Mexican born Marco Antonio Solis is one of the most influential singer-songwriters in the Latin music world, and his compositions, recorded by himself and covered by scores of other artists, have literally shaped the direction of regional Mexican music in Latin America and the U.S. He has recorded 20 albums and written over 300 songs, had numerous Gold and Platinum albums in the United States, Mexico and Latin America, plus had a string of radio hits, six of them having reached No.1 on Billboard’s ‘Hot Latin Tracks’ chart being one of the few artists who has enjoyed tremendous success in both pop and regional charts. He will release an album of all new material in September.
MARC ANTHONY - New York-born Marc Anthony is the top selling salsa artist of all time, and is, according to the New York Times, the “reigning king of salsa”, “someone who can compete with the greatest pop singers of the 20th century” with “absolute command of the music and the arena”. He has managed to balance his music career with a thriving acting career, delivering critically acclaimed performances on Broadway and in film. He is set to release Sigo Siendo Yo, a collection of his greatest hits, and two new songs in July, and stars in “El Cantante” a film based on the life of Hector Lavoe, currently in production.
LAURA PAUSINI - Platinum pop recording artist LAURA PAUSINI is recognized throughout the world as having one of the best voices in popular music. The Italian-born beauty has sung for the Pope, dueted with Ray Charles on his acclaimed Genius & Friends album, and performed with Pavarotti twice. Her Resta in Ascolto album won a Latin Grammy for Best Female Pop Vocal album and her most recent release Eschucha has netted XX #l singles, a Grammy for Best Latin Pop Album, a Premio Lo Nuestro for Best Female Pop Performance and a Billboard Award for Best Female Pop Performance. Laura is releasing a new album later this year.
